On March 3, at 16:30, the History Museum of Armenia will host a lecture entitled “Metsamor city district as a burial ground: the results of the preliminary study of archaeoanthropological materials,” which will be conducted by Hasmik Simonyan, researcher of the IAE NAS RA, curator of the anthropology collection of the “Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations” NCSO.
The speech is dedicated to the study of the archaeoanthropological materials excavated by the Armenian-Polish expedition in the urban district of the Metsamor archaeological site.
During the excavation periods of 2014-2022, more than a dozen osteological materials of individuals dating from the Urartian and ancient periods were excavated in Metsamor city district. Some of the burials were carried out under the walls of already abandoned structures or in corner sections. Some of the burials are irregular, without documentation of exact anatomical situations.
Entrance with a museum ticket.
