Shant Gurgen Navoyan

Shant Gurgen Navoyan ( December 14, 2001, Yerevan – October 10, 2020, Jrakan )

Shant studied and graduated from the primary and high school “Elita”. He was engaged in karate from the age of 8 and became the champion of Armenia in his age group at the age of 14. He attended TUMO, shot the short film “Agenda”. He was a member of the Frisbee Federation. In 2019 he entered the Marketing Department of the French University of Armenia, where he studied for one semester, and on January 8, 2020, leaving his studies unfinished, he was drafted into the army and served in the Kapan military unit. He was a soldier for eight months when the war began. Despite health problems, he participated in the war as an artilleryman from day one. Shant fought bravely for 13 days in Jrakan and was killed by a drone strike on October 10.

He was posthumously awarded the “Combat Service Medal” by order of the President of the Republic of Armenia for the courage and skill he displayed during combat operations.

Shant loved to write and was creative even during the war. His notes from all these years were collected and published in 2021 in the book “He who speaks does not know, he who knows does not speak…”. In 2021 the charitable foundation “Shant-Delta Navoyan” was established. Since 2023, the Shant Navoyan “Golden Seeds” educational award competition is held at the French University in Armenia.

He dreamed of becoming a director and making his own film.
