Artashes Gevorg Hakobyan, Junior Sergeant, Sniper (September 12, 2000, Yerevan – October 28, 2020, Karmir Shuka).

Alongside his academic pursuits in environmental sciences at the Armenian State Pedagogical University, Artashes was a proficient martial artist, specializing in karate, taekwondo, and judo, with a collection of medals to his name. In 2019, he commenced his military service in Jrakan, demonstrating exemplary dedication as a soldier. Throughout the war, he actively participated in operations, including both the Water and the Red Market. In a sobering conversation with his mother and sister, he shared the reality of the situation, stating, “Behave like a man, it’s a war, I might not come home…” Artashes fought in the final battles in Karmir Shuka. Witnessing his wounded commander, Artashes immediately rushed to help, and both lost their lives heroically on October 28. In recognition of his devotion and courage, Artashes was posthumously awarded the “For Devotion and Courage” medal, along with the “Combat Service” medal.
