Within the framework of the exhibition “Fragments of Identity: Costume,”a
lecture was held on the topic: “The Symbolic Meanings of Armenian Women’s
Adornments in the 18 th -20 th centuries.”
Ethnographer Astghik Israelyan, senior researcher of the Ethnography Department
of the History Museum of Armenia, made a report, presenting the Armenian
adornments of the 18 th -20 th centuries and the ways of using them in folk customs,
traditions, holidays and rituals.
During the report, A. Israelyan referred to the different types of adornments, their
ornaments, and symbolic meanings of the patterns.
