On 30th of November, the international exhibition “On the Frankincense Route: Armenia” was solemnly opened at the National Museum of Oman.
During the official opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Ambassador Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Rayami, Head of the Cultural Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman; Hrachya Poladyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Sultanate of Oman; and Davit Poghosyan, Director of the History Museum of Armenia.
As part of the exhibition, two remarkable censers from the collection of the History Museum of Armenia (Ani, 13th century, and St. Marianeh Church of Ashtarak, 18th century) will be on six-month display within the “Land of Frankincense” gallery of the National Museum of Oman, alongside objects related to the culture of frankincense from Oman and other countries.
The idea of the exhibition was discussed earlier this year, in February, during a meeting between Davit Poghosyan, Director of the History Museum of Armenia, and Jamal Al-Mousawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum of Oman. In enq their joint exhibition activities in Armenia and Oman.
The international exhibition has been organized through the cooperation of the History Museum of Armenia and the National Museum of Oman, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Sultanate of Oman.
