On August 29th at 16:00, Nzhdeh Yeranyan, Deputy Scientific Director of the History Museum of Armenia will give a lecture entitled “Disaster and Risk Management for Museums” at the History of Museum of Armenia. During the lecture will be presented the foundational principles of the preservation of cultural heritage in museums, recorded examples of disasters in museums, the main steps for preventing and quickly responding to them will be discussed, placing particular emphasis on the effective means of reducing risks. The speaker will also talk about knowledge and experience acquired during research carried out at Cornell University in the scope of the “Fulbright” postdoctoral programme and during a visit to Riga in the scope of the “ICCROM READY 1” programme, and will present the possible applications of that knowledge to the field of preservation of cultural heritage in Armenia.
