On 5 December at 16:30, as part of the celebration of the 160th anniversary of the birth of Yervand Lalayan, the History Museum of Armenia will host a lecture entitled “Yervand Lalayan: The Founder of Armenian Scientific Ethnography” by Professor Rafik Nahapetyan, Department of Archaeology and Ethnography, Yerevan State University. The speaker will present the life and activity of Yervand Lalayan, the founding director of the History Museum of Armenia, ethnographer, archaeologist, and will introduce him as the founder of scientific ethnography, founder of the “Ethnographic Journal”, researcher of regional-territorial ethnography, museum creator, archaeologist, anthropologist, folklorist and bibliographer. During his lecture, the speaker will also reflect on the selfless dedication of Yervand Lalayan’s wife, Haykanush Harutyunyan, to her husband’s scientific and organisational activities.
