On 1 February at 16:00, as part of the temporary exhibition “Yesterday and Today: In the Footsteps of Jacques de Morgan”, the History Museum of Armenia will host a lecture entitled “Jacques de Morgan: The Merits of the French Archaeologist in Armenia”, given by Lilit Gasparyan, Head of the “Shengavit” Branch of the “Erebuni Historical and Archaeological Reserve-Museum”. The speaker will present the life and work of the French geologist, archaeologist and ethnographer Jacques de Morgan not only in Armenia, but also in Persia and Egypt. The remarkable archaeological exhibits excavated by Jacques de Morgan in Akhtala in the 19th century will be discussed. The merits of Jacques de Morgan in the field of Armenian studies will also be presented.
