On July 25th at 16:00, a lecture will be held on “The Iconography of the Vestments of the Catholicos within the Medieval Armenian Miniature” at the History Museum of Armenia. The speaker will be art historian, clothing designer, and handicraft master Sophie Khachmanyan, who will speak about the historical development and structure of the elements of ceremonial vestments — starting from the Kingdom of Van (Urartu) to the Middle Ages — and about the meaning and symbolic purpose of the ornaments, colors, threads and fabrics, metals, gemstones, and other materials contained on them, as well as their depiction in medieval miniature (14th-18th centuries).
Admission is free.
