As part of the History Museum of Armenia’s international cooperation efforts and the temporary exhibition “Mother Goddess: From Anahit to Mary”, a remarkable lecture titled “The Many Faces of the Satala Anahita” was held. The lecture was conducted by Thomas Harrison, Head of the Greece and Rome Department at the British Museum. Opening remarks were delivered by H.E. Mr. John Gallagher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Davit Poghosyan, Director of the History Museum of Armenia.
Transcendent beauty, multiple interpretations, and hypotheses—the surviving head and hand of the bronze-cast statue of Anahit have sparked numerous discussions. Today, this statue serves as a unique bridge between past and present, connecting the British Museum in London and the History Museum of Armenia. You still have the opportunity to explore it up close until March 21.
