The History Museum of Armenia reopened the last section of the third floor of the permanent exhibition – the exhibition hall “Christian Armenia”.
Davit Poghosyan, Director of the History Museum of Armenia, gave the opening speech, emphasising the importance and necessity of preserving and comprehensively presenting Armenian culture in the current situation. He noted that the opening day of the exhibition is symbolic for the museum: 104 years ago, on September 9, 1919, the Museum was founded by the decision of the Parliament of the First Republic of Armenia.
Fr. Asoghik Karapetyan, Director of the Museums and Archives of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, and Hamlet Petrosyan, Professor, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Cultural Studies of YSU, also gave speeches.
It should also be noted that in parallel with the permanent exhibition, a temporary exhibition “Masterpieces from Medieval Armenia” opened, which housed a number of unique manifestations of the culture of medieval Armenia of the 11th-16th centuries, including the 16th century khachkar from the cemetery of Old Jugha; the wooden door of Arakelots (Holy Apostles) Monastery in Mush, 1136; and the cauldron found in the Monastery of Haghartsin.
We would like to remind you that from now on, all the halls of the permanent exhibition – from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages – will be open to our visitors.
