The History Museum of Armenia opened a new exhibition “Coin in Armenia: Times and Relations” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Armenia’s national currency.

Davit Poghosyan, Director of the Museum, stated in his opening speech that the exhibition covers important successive periods of history, and special emphasis is placed on the creation of the current national currency.

Hasmik Ghahramanyan, Board Member of the Central Bank of Armenia, congratulated the attendees on the 30th anniversary of the national currency and presented the history of the creation of the dram, and the challenges and difficulties of that period. Ruben Vardanyan, Head of the Numismatics Department of the Museum, noted that in addition to the 30th anniversary of the national currency, we could say that we are also celebrating the 2100th anniversary of the coin, considering the beginning of the issue of drachmas of Tigranes the Great.

About 600 samples are presented at the exhibition, including unique samples related to the creation of drams, sketches of drams made by Ashot Manukyan, as well as important samples from the collection of the RA Central Bank.
