On 23 April at 16:00, the History Museum of Armenia will open a photo exhibition entitled “Genocide of the Monuments” to commemorate the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, the annihilation of the Armenian population by Turkey was accompanied by a series of actions against Armenian cultural heritage. Genocide of Armenian monuments reminds us of the atrocities, massacres and genocide committed against the Armenian people. Those monuments, most of which are on the verge of being destroyed, are a clear proof of the consequences of hatred and intolerance towards the people.
As part of the exhibition, photographs of the monuments of Ani, Van, Khtskonk, Horomos and other settlements of Western Armenia, taken at the beginning of the 20th century, will be presented, combined with the photographs of the same monuments taken by the photographer Hrair Hawk Khatcherian in recent years.
Admission is free.
