A bas-relief of a winged lion with a woman’s face. The two-faced mythical animal sits calmly with its legs stretched forward. Its long hair falls in bangs to its shoulders. It wears a high crown on its head, and a triangular ornament on its chest. The tip of the lion’s tail, folded over its back, ends in a lily flower. The entire surface of the bas-relief is decorated with curling palm branches. The mythical symbol of the lion has existed in Armenian literary, miniature, heraldic, and applied art since ancient times.
