On April 23 at 16:00, the History Museum of Armenia will host the opening ceremony of the exhibition “The Dildilians: Photographic Heritage from the Diaspora”, dedicated to the 111th commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. Since the 19th century, several generations of the Dildilian family were engaged in photography in various cities of the Ottoman Empire, including Sivas, Merzifon, Samsun, and elsewhere. Following forced displacement, they settled in Greece and the United States, where they continued their work. The exhibition will feature glass negatives, sketches, documents, letters, dozens of photographs taken over a span of 34 years by Tsolag Dildilian and Aram Dildilian, as well as other remarkable items from the family heritage. These materials have been specially transported to the History Museum of Armenia and will be displayed alongside the Museum’s own exhibits. The exhibition has been organized in collaboration with the Museum and Armen Marsoobian, a descendant of the Dildilian family and professor in the Department of Philosophy at Southern Connecticut State University.
Admission is free.
