Armen Yuri Nersesian

Armen Yuri Nersesian. Pilot, colonel (April 12, 1975, Shahumyan region – November 2, 2020, Kapan).

After graduating the school, Armen moved to Russian Federation (RF) and studied in aviation high college in Krasnodar. In 1996 he returned Armenia and served as a pilot in Gyumry military base. He was one of the first pilots of 3-rd Republic of Armenia.  In 2002 – 2004 he studied in RF academy after Yuri Gagarin. In 2012 he was ordered as a commander of the military unit and in the same year he received the colonel rank. He was awarded 2-nd degree of “For serving the Motherland” medal, 1-st, 2-nd and 3-rd degrees of “Vazgen Sargsyan”, “Marshal Baghramyan”, “Military sevice”, “For perfect serving” medals, medal for “15 years of CSTO ” and other awards. Armen was 1-st degree pilot, one of those unique persons, who could drive SU multifunctional fighter. Armen Nersesian had his decisive role during the Artsakh second war. On November 2 his aircraft went up into the air – to conduct the military task. He did a lot to destroy the enemy air forces, which attacked Armenian soldiers below and when he tried to return, the enemy’s heavy artillery battery attacked his plane. It was just like his words: “The pilot must think about his military task, and not – about returning….”
