Arsen Rubik Abroyan (August 26, 2000 – October 8, 2020, Jrakan /Jabrayil/)
From childhood, Arsen displayed qualities of restraint and balance, often encouraged to speak less and listen more. He excelled at chess and earned the nickname “general” at home. With a talent for marksmanship, he was a skilled shooter. After completing school, Arsen pursued studies in auto mechanics. In January 2019, he embarked on his military service, initially stationed in Meghri at the Agarak military unit, later moving to Jraka. Proficient with various weapons, Arsen specialized as a grenade launcher. He chose not to disclose the specific location of his battles to his mother, simply stating, “We are in positions if we don’t guard the border, but who will guard it?” Artush, Arsen’s comrade in arms, recounted how Arsen saved his life. Arsen, nicknamed “Zarzand (meaning horror),” not only saved three individuals wounded by gunshots but also bravely confronted the enemy alone. Renowned for his prowess in hitting tanks, Arsen’s actions on the battlefield were nothing short of extraordinary. Despite his remarkable courage and selflessness, Arsen’s dream of effecting positive change in life and making people’s lives easier remained unfulfilled. In recognition of his valor, he was posthumously awarded the “Courage” and “For Courage” medals. Additionally, Arsen’s mother received the esteemed “Sose Mother” medal.
