On July 21, at 17:00, the History Museum of Armenia will host a lecture on the topic “Carpet Motifs in the Armenian Costume Ornamentation System”. Ethnographer Svetlana Poghosyan, PhD, will conduct the speech.
The Western Armenian costumes, especially the Vaspurakan and Aghdznik costume sets, are distinguished by the use of carpet ornaments, diversity and unique colour solutions. Of particular note are the ornamental compositions of Vaspurakan’s, Kharberd’s, and Sebastia’s women’s costumes, aprons, which are stylistically reminiscent of carpets and rugs.
During the speech, the details of the use of carpet patterns in the Armenian costume ornamentation system will be discussed.
Entrance with a museum ticket.
