Davit Albert Davitavyan, sergeant, artilleryman, commander of the calculation (July 10, 1994, Odzun – November 24, 2020, fatally wounded in Mataghis on October 8).
Displaying artistic talent from a young age, he began painting at 4-5 years old and received accolades for his work. Later, he pursued a career as a welder, studying the craft in Alaverdi.
Upon his conscription into the army, Davitavyan distinguished himself as an exemplary artilleryman, eventually earning the position of commander of the calculation. Tragically, he sustained fatal injuries in Mataghis on October 8, succumbing to his wounds on November 24, 2020. His outstanding service was acknowledged with three badges: “Brave Fighter,” “Best Soldier-Athlete,” and “Superior of the Armenian Army.” After a brief period in Russia, Davitavyan returned to Armenia, where he worked in a furniture store. Known for his conscientious, responsible, and humorous nature, he decided to embrace contract service, defending positions in Tavush. When the war erupted, Davitavyan rushed to Artsakh, actively participating in the battles in Mataghis. Unfortunately, on the night of October 8, he sustained severe injuries from an anti-aircraft missile. Despite their hopes for a miracle, he succumbed to his injuries on November 24. Davitavyan was posthumously honored with the Combat Cross 1st Class and the Combat Service Medal. His unrealized dream was to start a family, have children, and contribute to the development of the country, see Western Armenia.
