On August 29th, Dr. Nzhdeh Yeranyan, Deputy Scientific Director of the History Museum of Armenia, gave a lecture entitled “Disaster and Risk Management for Museums” at the History Museum of Armenia. The different types of disasters, understandings of them over time, and recorded historical examples in museums were discussed during the lecture. The speaker shared his knowledge and experience, acquired over the course of international programmes, underlining the fact that they can also be implemented in Armenia and help the advancement of the preservation of cultural heritage during crisis situations. Special attention was given to the main risks facing institutions of cultural heritage in Armenia, placing particular importance on the necessity of developing disaster prevention and crisis management plans in museums and other institutions of cultural heritage in Armenia.
