On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the History Museum of Armenia hosted a meeting-discussion on the topic “Armenian Women’s Jewellery: From Traditional to Contemporary”. The meeting was chaired by Arusyak Ghazaryan, the Museum’s Deputy Director for Development.

The speakers were Astghik Israelyan, Senior Researcher of the HMA Ethnography Department, and Manan Arakelyan (Dafin), ethnographer and founder of the “Dafnezard” project.

The ethnographers presented the role of jewellery in terms of national aesthetic perceptions, feelings, taste, and style, talked about their symbolism and use, as well as discussed the recreation of ancient and traditional Armenian jewellery in modern times.

At the end of the meeting, a question and answer session was held.
