On 17 June, the History Museum of Armenia hosted a conference entitled “Yerevan-Beirut: Cultural Bridges” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Haigazian University. Nzhdeh Yeranyan, PhD, Deputy Scientific Director of the History Museum of Armenia, and Rev․ Dr. Paul Haidostian, the President of Haigazian University, delivered welcoming remarks, emphasising the connection between Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora communities and the activities of Haigazian University in Armenology.
The following speakers delivered reports at the conference:
– Armine Zohrabyan, PhD, Researcher-Curator of the Department of Archaeology of the History Museum of Armenia (topic: “The Diaspora Committee and the HMA Collection”),
– John Saghrian, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Haigazian University (topic: “A Brief History of Haigazian University”),
–Hratsin Vardanyan, PhD (topic: “Scientific and Educational Ties between Haigazian University and Armenia”),
– Dr. Antranik Dakessian, Director of the Diaspora Studies Centre of Haigazian University, (topic: “Armenia in the Pages of the Haigazian Armenological Journal”).
At the end of the conference, Antranik and Alina Dakessian donated to the History Museum of Armenia the original certificate of honour awarded by former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser to Lieutenant General Aram Karamanoukian, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Army Artillery, in 1957.
