The second half of the 2nd millennium BC corresponds chronologically to the Late Bronze Age. The period is characterised by the construction of a large number of cyclopean fortresses. The concentration of the population in settlements is noticeable, indicating the emergence of relatively large cities (Lchashen, Metsamor, Shamiram, Horom, etc.) with powerful citadels, streets, separate districts and extensive burial grounds. Huge burial mounds, where representatives of the council of elders were buried, often accompanied by ritual wagons, also appeared during this period.

The Late Bronze Age saw the emergence of a highly artistic material and spiritual culture.

The exhibition presents:

  • High-quality bronze figurines and sculptural groups, single pieces or parts of large objects from the Late Bronze Age, various types of weapons and armour.
  • A reconstruction of the burial of the Lchashen chieftains, using a wagon and other materials found in the tomb, and an animated film depicting the burial process.
  • Exclusive examples of Late Bronze Age Armenian goldsmithing and silversmithing.
  • A diverse selection of luxurious ritual vessels found at various Late Bronze Age sites in Armenia.
