Hayk Samvel Aleksanyan, battery commander, captain (January 7, 1991, Gyumri city – October 9, 2020, Jabrayil)
Hayk graduated from V. Sargsyan University with a red diploma. In 2013, he served in the Vayk military unit of the RA Defense Ministry with the rank of lieutenant. He received numerous honors and medals during his service. He underwent training in France and Poland, successfully completing various assignments that contributed significantly to the reinforcement of positions. Hayk possessed an outstanding command of the English, Russian, and French languages. Following the April war, he expressed in an interview: “Peace is worth the price of life…” He contemplated that we had strayed too far from ourselves and needed to return. Amid the 2nd Artsakh war, Hayk was among the first to journey to Artsakh, leading three positions in Jabrail. Thanks to Hayk’s strategic calculations, the enemy found themselves momentarily ensnared in his plans. A true embodiment of his name, he was a proud, valiant, and self-sacrificing individual. Unfortunately, he sustained injuries from an anti-aircraft missile strike on October 9, and his funeral took place on October 19, coinciding with Artillery Day. Half of a dream remained unfulfilled: he was in the process of writing a book as a gift for his beloved.
