Melikset Simon Manukyan, nicknamed “Dushman”, Yerkrapah volunteer (1965, Abovyan, Mayakovsky village – October 10, 2020, Hadrut).
Wounded during the 1st Artsakh War in 1994, his thoughts remained with Karabakh. Without hesitation, he joined the fight during the 2nd Artsakh War, displaying heroism on the battlefield. A source of pride for him was the medals he earned, which he proudly attached to his grandson’s military uniform during Yerevan’s celebrations. Today, the grandson feels the enduring spirit of his grandfather and is keenly interested in the heroic deeds of the past. Melikset himself was honored with the “Liberation” medal and other awards for his service. Melikset’s dream of witnessing a free, independent Artsakh and building a house for his son remains unfulfilled…
