Narek Armen Mesropyan , Military doctor (1989, Stepanakert, Artsakh – October 19, 2020, Aghdam)

Narek was a student who liked to participate in his school’s theater group. He played the role of Gikor, but his dream was to become a doctor. He was also very active in various Olympiads. Narek was the pride of his family, a caring husband, and an attentive father to three children. His father was a soldier and Narek followed in his footsteps to become a military doctor. He participated in the April war and was stationed in Talish, where he received the “Medal of Courage” for his bravery. Narek was always in a hurry, risking his life to save others. On September 27, he secretly went to Stepanakert Hospital to serve as the head of the medical service for the Khojaly/Aghdam rifle regiment. During a heavy bombardment, he rushed to fulfill his duty as a doctor. On the night of October 10-11, Narek transported patients in an ambulance to Aghdam and was seriously injured. He was then flown to Yerevan by helicopter. When he regained consciousness, he asked his father, “Is the war over?” His father replied, “We won.” Narek closed his eyes, knowing that he had won as well. He passed away on October 19 in Yerevan and was posthumously awarded the “Medal of Courage” for his bravery and service.
