Narek Harutyun Sargsyan, (July 9, 2001, Aragatsavan, Aragatsotn region – September 27, 2020, Mataghis, Martakert region)

Alongside his regular school education, he was accepted into the folk instruments section of the Aragatsavan Children’s Music School, where he played the shvi and duduk. His musical talents led him to participate in competitions and win awards. Inspired by a profound desire to serve, Narek aspired to be admitted to the Monte Melkonyan Military School. However, circumstances took a different turn. Spending a year abroad in Krasnodar, upon their return, they discovered Narek’s military service file missing at the military commissariat in Tallinn. Undeterred, Narek expressed his disappointment, stating, “No one has the right to deprive me of the duty to protect the motherland.” Beyond his military aspirations, Narek also dreamed of entering the State Theater of Song, studying music, and developing his voice. His mother, who had artistic talents of her own, wrote poems and created artwork, including a cross with “Masis” underneath, and wrote “Mother Armenia.” On September 27, on the first day of the war, Narek became the first victim of Aragatsavan, losing his life to a UAV attack…
