From humanity’s endless attempts to understand the origins and structure of the universe to efforts to comprehend the existence of nature, humanity, order, and time: what mythological narratives, ritual practices, and symbols have carried knowledge of the cosmos across the centuries?
On SEPTEMBER 21, Armenia’s Independence Day, the international exhibition “Myths, Cults and Cosmology: Museum Island Berlin at the History Museum of Armenia” will open. For the first time, it will bring together a selection of objects from the collections of the six museums of Museum Island Berlin and the History Museum of Armenia on a single platform.
The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to encounter cosmological visions and ideas from diverse cultural contexts, spanning the ancient world, the Middle Ages, and the modern era.
The exhibition commemorates the 35th anniversary of Armenia’s independence and the 200th anniversary of the founding of Museum Island Berlin.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration between the History Museum of Armenia and the Museum of Pre- and Early History (Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte) of Museum Island Berlin, with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia.
