( 10.09.1997 – 21.10.2020 )

Arman Karen Ohanjanian (September 10, 1997, Ararat region, Masis city – October 21, 2020, Jabrail).

Arman actively participated in various Olympiads, including chess championships, where he secured 1st and 2nd places. Despite being released from the army due to flat feet, he voluntarily joined the front lines. In response to concerns about his eligibility, he assertively declared, “I didn’t come to ask if you’re taking me or not, I came to say that I’m going.” In Jabrayil on October 1, Arman and his comrades received an order to retreat, ultimately reaching the border of Persia. They contemplated surrendering, aware of the presence of two Turkish villages, but their resolve led them to reconsider. On October 7, the regiment from Jabrayil arrives, only to find an empty area. Arman finds himself amid a second sabotage attack, participating in the South Araks incident. He returns home on October 17, marked by the blessing of a wooden cross placed around his neck, a symbol of protection for him and the child he accompanies. With a ceasefire declared on October 18, Arman’s mother urges him to stay, but he, wary of Turkish intentions, insists they will break the truce. He returns to Artsakh on October 19. The next day, on October 20, Arman joined a group to retrieve wounded Armenians, only to discover that the individuals they approached, disguised in Armenian uniforms, were Azerbaijanis who opened fire on their vehicle. Arman continued to engage in combat even after being wounded. His final words were “Guys, I have a bullet in me,”. Arman’s death was officially recorded on October 21. He fought valiantly to the last drop of blood, bravely absorbing enemy fire to aid his comrades’ escape. Arman, in giving his all, has now joined the ranks of the immortal regiment. He aspired to become a military doctor.
