We are glad to inform you that on August 20, after a long break, the History Museum of Armenia started its work. For your safe visits under the conditions of the pandemic, we urge you to follow the instructions of the RA commandant decision N 253
- Wear a mask throughout your visit to the Museum.
- Pass the obligatory temperature measurement, and
disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based disinfectant.
- Maintain a social distance of at least 1.5 meters inside the Museum.
- If possible, book tickets online by visiting the Museum’s official website at the following link: https://historymuseum.am/buy-tickets/

Let us remind you that the Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11:00 to 18:00,

Davit Poghosyan has been appointed the new director of the History Museum of Armenia

At the History Museum of Armenia today, on August 18 2020, the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan introduced David Poghosyan, appointed director of the History Museum of Armenia as a result of a competition, to the staff of the Museum. The Minister thanked the former director Grigor Grigoryan for his activities and congratulated the newly-appointed director.
To the Minister’s question connected with the current activities of the Museum, Grigor Grigoryan presented the enormous work done in the Museum, and the installation of a new ventilation system, which is in progress. Afterwards, thanking for the trust, Davit Poghosyan expressed hope to raise the museum to a new level, together with the staff. Some employees present at the meeting expressed their gratitude to Grigor Grigoryan and congratulated the newly-appointed director.
History Museum of Armenia among top 10 CIS museums

The TourStat agency has ranked the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan among top 10 CIS history and culture museums for visits, virtual tours and exhibitions
The top ten also features the State History Museum in Moscow, Belarus National History Museum and Nesvizh National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve in Belarus, the National Museum of Kazakhstan in Nur-Sultan, National History Museum of Azerbaijan in Baku, as well as National History Museums of Uzbekistan, Moldova and Tajikistan.
The ranking is based on an analysis of the popularity of museums and the virtual tour offers to museums.

About the solemn meeting of the conference dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the History Museum of Armenia
(THE HISTORY MUSEUM OF ARMENIA – 100. Museum and today’s challenges)
On September 9, 2019, a solemn meeting of the conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the History Museum of Armenia took place at the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts “Matenadaran”. Representatives of prestigious museums abroad participated in the event. in particular partners of the State Hermitage, the Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Russian History, the Museum of Antiquities in Arles, the ROSPHOTO Museum-Exhibition Center, historians, archaeologists, museologists and artists from France, Italy, Russia and from different Armenian institutions.
The conference was chaired by the Director of the History Museum of Armenia Grigor Grigoryan.
During the meeting, jubilee medals were given to those who made a great contribution to the museum’s popularisation and to the honored staff of the museum.

May 15 – June 15 of 2019
Exceptional objects and photographs concerning the ethnography of the Western Armenia, acquired at the end of the 19th c. and in the beginning of the 20th c., are represented in the exhibition.
«The Joint Exhibition of Asian Civilizations»

The History Museum of Armenia is participating in «The Joint Exhibition of Asian Civilizations», at the National Museum of China from May 13, 2019 to August 11, 2019, where other institutions and museums representing the heritage of Asian peoples are taking part as well. The exhibition is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Cultural Heritage Administration of the People’s Republic of China, with the support of the Embassy of Armenia in China and the Embassy of China in Armenia.
The History Museum of Armenia has presented ceramics from the Armenian stations on the Silk Road (from the 1st millennium BC to the 13th century AD), exceptional specimens found in ancient Armenian capitals Erebuni-Yerevan, Dvin and Ani.
The participation of the History Museum of Armenia in this cultural event at the National Museum of China, a most prestigious venue in Beijing, is a unique opportunity for appreciation and popularization of the Armenian cultural heritage.
