Rafayel Hovhannes Vasilyan, head of Anti-aircraft warfare of the peacekeeping force brigade, major (May 14, 1992, Mkhchyan – November 9, Martuni-2)
He was an excellent student, participating in Olympiads and receiving medals. After graduating from school, he was admitted to the Armenak Khamperyants Military Aviation Institute where he graduated with honors in 2012. He was then sent to military unit #Gyumri for service, later continuing his service in the military unit of Arzni in 2014. In the same year, he was appointed an officer of the Operational Department of the Peacekeeping Forces Brigade of the RA Armed Forces. He became a platoon commander in 2016 and from 2014 to 2018, he participated in the Germany-Afghanistan peacekeeping mission and received medals. In 2018, he was appointed the head of the Anti-aircraft warfare. As the head of the training course, he taught at the A. Khamperyants Military Aviation Institute of the RA Armed Forces and was knowledgeable in cartography. In 2020, he got married on July 12. He dreamed of building a big house for his children, but unfortunately, he passed away without an heir. For his excellent service to the motherland, R. Vasilian was awarded many medals. He was a heroic officer who saved the lives of many of his subordinate soldiers and others. He passed away peacefully on November 9 after being wounded while fighting the enemy.
