On the eve of International Women’s Day, March 7, the History Museum of Armenia will host a meeting discussion on “Armenian Women’s Jewellery: From Traditional to Contemporary”. Astghik Israelyan, Ph.D., Senior Researcher at the HMA Ethnography Department, and Manan Arakelyan (Dafin), ethnographer and founder of the “Dafnezard” project, will conduct the meeting.

Astghik Israelyan will present the role of jewellery in terms of national aesthetic perceptions, feelings, taste, style, as well as craftsmanship, and will also talk about the preparation and use of the Bronze Age hairpins, earrings, necklaces, rings, brooches, pendants, and buttons.

Manan Arakelyan (Dafin) will present a recreation of ancient and traditional Armenian jewellery in modern times and talk about ways of revealing national values and identity through jewellery.
