The composition of “Cross-Star” rugs has a history of at least six hundred years. The tradition of weaving rugs with this image continues in the experience of modern rugmakers. Three large star-shaped crosses are arranged along the vertical centerline of the red field of the presented example. Between the two medallions above are figures of horses in opposite alignment on the right and left sides. The rug has two strips.
