The motif of “Cross-Star” rugs has a history of at least six hundred years. The tradition of weaving rugs with this image continues in the experience of modern rugmakers. Five complete and one half shields are placed along the red field of the presented example. Geometric, zoomorphic, anthropomorphic images are arranged in different parts of the rug field. In the guard borders are rows of rosettes, stylised leaves and two-branched seedlings.
